Enrich Your Language Learning Trip!

Summary:

Learning a language in the country it is spoken is one of the most effective ways to gain an understanding of how the language is really used and to gain fluency. To extend this experience further, taking part in group activities whilst in the target country allows the learner to gain experience interacting outside of the classroom – an invaluable experience which will polish off language skills to perfection!

The students of Mester have found some great ways to take advantage of their time in Spain, not just by learning Spanish but by throwing themselves into learning about the culture of Spain too!

The group of Ivan Diaz – who have spent one week in both the school in Salamanca and the school in Granada – have tried a cookery class, allowing them to be able to make their favourite Spanish dishes when they arrive home in Poland on September 13th.  Though most the students were beginners, they were easily able to pick up the techniques and had a great time practising their Spanish whilst making the delicious recipes!  They were also lucky enough, along with some other Mester students, to be able to attend some talks given by Mr Diaz about his dual nationality.  Half Polish and half Colombian, Mr Diaz told of the countries’ differences, similarities and how they have changed.  It really was an interesting contrast and all students certainly left the talks with enthusiasm for travelling!

Another group who have been taking their language trip seriously is the Italians who arrived in Salamanca on the 29th August and will leave on September 12th.  They have joined Raquel, our resident dance teacher, for a Sevillana dance course – something which, as you’ll be able to see from the photos, they thoroughly enjoyed! The girls have been taking the Intensive Spanish Language 1 course during the day and have been able to consolidate what they learn in class by doing various activities organised by the school at night.

Taking part in activities such as those above really does help language students immerse themselves in Spanish culture, make new friends, widen their horizons and become more comfortable speaking Spanish in a non-classroom environment.

If you are interested in learning Spanish in Spain

then make sure to look for a Spanish language school with a good activity programme.  Having all the activities pre-organised allows you to enjoy your stay to the maximum without getting bogged down organising the activities yourself!
