Summary:

Starbucks and the Instituto Cervantes have joined together to offer Spanish training to their staff in America. The two companies have agreed a year long “learn Spanish” contract which will be mainly focused on online learning, leading to the DELE exam. Read here to find out more about their scheme.

The Instituto Cervantes and Starbucks are working together to provide Spanish Courses to their employees in the USA! The employees, who are 100,000 in the USA, will be able to start learning with the Virtual Classroom, AVE: Aula Virtual de Español,  that the Instituto Cervantes will provide online for the project.

This project will be tested by a pilot course given by Spanish Teachers from the Department of Spanish of the University of Seattle.

To mark the new deal between the companies the major of Washington and the vice president of the state met the chairman of the Instituto Cervantes, Carmen Caffarel, in Madrid at the end of May. Among other people, they all met in the main Instituto Cervantes office in Madrid.

The agreement is originally for a year long project, and every few months the company will do checks to see how the employees are progressing. If they do well enough they are even going to be offered the chance to sit the prestigious DELE exam, organised by the Instituto Cervantes for the Spanish Ministry of Education. The DELE, Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera, is an exam provided by the Instituto Cervantes that is recognised worldwide as a proof of your level of Spanish.
